When the creators of South Park came up with The Book of Mormon, they probably did not expect it to be the cult classic that it has become! The musical features some truly amazing numbers that go along with a story that's kind of a spoof, and oddly also a serious critique of a way of life.
The Book of Mormon isn't often on the road; therefore, this stop in Fort Wayne is one that you can't afford to miss. One of the performances will be at the Embassy Theatre on Tuesday, September 23rd. This US tour brings together up-and-coming actors as well as some veterans who have told this story on other stages before. If you want to have a good laugh while maybe even taking the social critic of the play seriously, then you need to click that "Buy Tickets" link. Again, this is a performance that just doesn't come around often.
The Book of Mormon is a nine-time Tony Award-winning musical comedy that was seen for the first time on Broadway in 2011. Expect some dark humor mixed with catchy and oddly upbeat songs like “Hello!” and “I Believe.” It follows two mismatched Mormon missionaries, Elder Price and Elder Cunningham, sent to Uganda to convert locals facing AIDS, poverty, and violence. The show, praised by The New York Times as “the best musical of this century,” has grossed over $800 million through its time on the road and in NYC. So many people can't be wrong ... can they?
